Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (INN name: Hypromellose), also simplified as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), is a variety of nonionic cellulose mixed ethers. It is a semi-synthetic, inactive, viscoelastic polymer .This product is industrial grade HPMC, mainly used as the dispersing agent for PVC production and as the main assistant used in producing PVC suspension polymerization.
It is also used as thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier, excipient, water retention agent, and film-forming agent etc.in producing petrochemicals, building materials, paint removers, agricultural chemicals, inks, textiles, ceramics, paper. cosmetics and other products.


HPMC is short for Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, is a Odorless , tasteless, non-toxic off-white powder. It is also Non-ionic cellulose ether. It is used as thickener, stabilizer,water retention agent,emulsifier. It can be widely used in the industries like construction material, paints & coating, ceramics, pharmaceutical, food, textile, agricultural chemicals. 1. Water Retention: The water retention will be enhanced, which is helpful with such problems as cement or gypsum construction material drying too fast and poor hardening or cracking due to insufficient  hydration.
2. Operationality: It can enhance the plasticity of mortar and improve the coating efficiency in construction  projects.
3. Adhesivity: It can make mortar attach to base material better since the plasticity of mortar is enhanced.
4. Slip Resistance: It can prevent slipping problem between mortar and the base material in construction project as a result of its thickening effect.

Appication:

1. Construction industry: As a water-retaining agent and retarder of cement mortar, it makes the mortar pumpable. Used as a   binder in plaster, gypsum, putty powder or other building materials to improve application and prolong operation time. It    can be used to paste ceramic tiles, marble, plastic decoration, paste reinforcement, and reduce the amount of cement. HPMC 's water-retaining properties prevent the paste from cracking because it dries too quickly after application,  enhancing the strength after hardening.
2. Ceramic manufacturing industry: widely used as a binder in the manufacture of ceramic products.
3. Coating industry: as thickener, dispersant and stabilizer in coating industry, it has good compatibility in water or organic solvents. As a paint remover.
4. Others: This product is also widely used in coating industry and ink printing ,leather, paper products industry, fruit and vegetable preservation and textile industry.
